late 1996, I was a latebloomer
I've collected comics for all of my life and I always peeked at the toy aisles but I never bought any figures. Then my boyfriend mentioned that he liked Batman figures. So, I bought him about 20 of them for his birthday. The dam broke... When he moved out, I kept the Batman figures.

Not hard at all, usually. Of course, I stop at Walmart on the way to work every day.

The only figures I've ever paid more than cost for are Batman and Tick figures that were no longer being made at the time I purchased them.
